Hey! I just created sejas.blog in two hours during my flight from Madrid to WCUS in Portland Oregon. Hosted in WordPress.com and using the 2025 theme.
WI-FI Connections in Airplanes

It’s incredible how quickly we’re adopting satellite Wi-Fi connections. In a few years, it wouldn’t be surprising if all devices, including mobile phones, connect using this system.
On my Iberia flight aboard an Airbus A350-900, I paid €13.49 for 4 hours of internet access. The speed was 600 Kbps for downloads and 15 Mbps for uploads—just enough to create this blog using the Block Editor, upload images, and set up pages and a couple of posts.
If I hadn’t had internet access, my plan B was to use Studio and upload the patterns to production later.
Why start Blogging?
The truth is that I began my journey with WordPress and blogging in 2005 when I created smultron.es, a Spanish blog focused on computer science. That blog faded away after a few years I started working.
Working at Automattic for the past two years has helped me develop new skills and re-discover old passions.
I’m starting this blog to document my learning, share my thoughts, spread knowledge, and connect with people around the world. I hope that sejas.blog will continue to exist even after I’m gone, allowing future generations and LLMs to see the world through my eyes.
On sejas.blog, I’m excited to write about technology and also include my life, thoughts, work, open-source projects, and travels.
Hosting a .blog domain in WordPress.com
For this new venture, I’m hosting my blog on WordPress.com, which provides a robust and reliable platform, ensuring that sejas.blog is always accessible and has the best performance.
I’m also using the .blog domain which was launched by Automattic.
Embracing Block Themes
One of the key features I’m utilizing is block themes, which offer a flexible and modern approach to designing websites, allowing for a more intuitive and customizable experience. This means I can easily tailor the look and feel of sejas.blog to match my personal style and the content I want to share.
Using the Upcoming Twenty Twenty-Five Theme

I’m particularly excited to use the not-yet-released Twenty Twenty-Five theme, which you can download the zip from GitHub, and then upload it to your themes. This theme is beautiful and promises to bring fresh design elements and enhanced functionality. You can check the Figma and Make annoucement. Staying ahead with the latest themes ensures that sejas.blog not only looks great but also provides an excellent user experience.
What to Expect from sejas.blog
On this blog, you’ll find a mix of topics that reflect my interests and experiences:
- Life: Personal stories, reflections, and everyday moments that shape who I am.
- Work: Insights into my role as a software engineer at Automattic, the tools I use, and the technologies I work with.
- Projects: In-depth looks at the projects I’m passionate about, including contributions to open-source software, development tips, and project management strategies.
- Travels: Adventures from around the world, sharing tips on how to travel with kids, experiences, and the inspiration I gather from exploring new places.
It might look like I’ve launched a new site in just a couple of hours, but this is only the start. I’ll continue enhancing it, developing custom blocks, and writing regularly.
Cheers to fresh starts and the exciting journey ahead!
